Congress leaders urge PM Modi to reflect on BJP losses in Varanasi and Nagpur

Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Supriya Shrinate have responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent comments regarding election results, advising the central government to engage in self-reflection rather than criticizing the opposition.

Jairam Ramesh specifically highlighted electoral setbacks for the BJP in Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s parliamentary constituency, and in Nagpur, a traditional stronghold of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Ramesh argued that instead of focusing on the opposition's performance, the government should address critical public concerns, including rising inflation, youth unemployment, and stagnant private investment.

The exchange follows a social media post by Prime Minister Modi regarding Legislative Council elections in four states, where he used the use of ballot papers to mock Congress's previous demands for their use over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). In response, Supriya Shrinate challenged the BJP to conduct all elections via ballot paper if they maintain such confidence in the method.
