Congress MP Pawan Khera criticises India over US Russia sanctions bill and Jharkhand student protests

Congress MP Pawan Khera said India is being "blackmailed" after the U.S. Senate passed a Russia sanctions bill that could impose up to a 100 % tariff on the top five countries, including India and China, that buy Russian crude oil and natural gas. He questioned the government's independence, calling critics "Vishwaguru" who dictate terms on oil purchases.

Khera also highlighted Congress’s support for the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand, which began after aspirants alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination results. The students have been holding a round‑the‑clock sit‑in demanding transparency and accountability. He noted that Rahul Gandhi will address the protesters at a "Chhatron Ki Goonj" programme in Prayagraj, urging both the ruling party and the opposition to resolve the concerns.
