Congress MP Sukhdev Baghat condemns attack on Pappu Yadav, backs Prashant Kishor in Bankipur count

On August 3, Congress MP Sukhdev Baghat denounced a reported assault on politician Pappu Yadav, stating that resorting to violence when people disagree is detrimental to democracy and urging the government to take strict action. He described the incident as an attack on free expression.

Baghat also extended good wishes to election strategist Prashant Kishor as vote counting continued in the Bankipur by‑election, noting Kishor’s role as a key campaign strategist and expressing hope that his party will fulfil its promises. In the same remarks, he raised concerns about delays in the Karnataka police recruitment exam and called for thorough debate on pending parliamentary bills, urging the ruling side to allow meaningful discussion.

The comments were made in a press interaction with IANS in New Delhi.
