Congress MP Sukhdev Bhagwat slams BJP delimitation as vote‑centric, not representation‑based

Congress Member of Parliament Sukhdev Bhagwat criticised the BJP‑led government's delimitation proposal, saying it is driven by electoral calculations rather than fair representation. He argued that the plan, similar to the one implemented in Assam, "is for votes, not for representation" and warned that merely increasing the number of seats would not address the need for a meaningful parliamentary debate.

Bhagwat also urged all parties to block the passage of the delimitation bill in the Lok Sabha, echoing Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's call for its defeat. In addition to the delimitation issue, he praised India's performance at the Commonwealth Games, expressed concern over recent judge transfers in the Delhi High Court, and highlighted security lapses following cross‑border attacks, calling for stronger protection of citizens.
