Congress MPs to protest at Parliament's Makara Darwaza over Rahul Gandhi speech disruption

On July 30, during the ninth day of India's monsoon session, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi's address in the Lok Sabha was interrupted, leading to a chaotic scene. Gandhi had criticised the government, used the terms "idiot" and "blind devotee", and accused Home Minister Amit Shah of ordering firing on student protesters.

In response, all Congress MPs announced they will stage a protest at the Parliament's Makara Darwaza at 10:30 a.m. before the day's proceedings begin, to highlight the disruption of Gandhi's speech. A meeting of floor leaders of the India Block was held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the protest.

The anti‑paper‑leak bill, slated for introduction in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, was also a focus of the debate, with Congress MP Manish Tiwari moving a notice to adjourn the Lok Sabha to discuss a new anti‑defection law.
