Congress names candidates for Telangana Graduate MLC elections

The Congress party has announced its candidates for two upcoming Graduate Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections in Telangana. Sama Rammohan Reddy will contest from the Mahabubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad Graduates’ constituency, while Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy will represent the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal Graduates’ constituency.

Sama Rammohan Reddy has previously served as a TPCC spokesperson and worked within the party’s media and communications wing. Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy is the son of the late former minister Ramreddy Damodar Reddy and has a background in engineering and business.

The selection has prompted criticism regarding social representation. Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha questioned the decision to field two candidates from the same community, suggesting a lack of diversity in the party’s choices.

Voter enrollment for these constituencies is currently underway, with final electoral rolls expected to be published by December 30. The elections are scheduled to take place in March 2027.
