Congress protests demand resignation of Chief Election Commissioner

The Congress Party held protests in Indore and Sawai Madhopur against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his resignation. Protesters raised concerns regarding the Election Commission's functioning and the transparency of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process used for voter lists.

In Indore, workers led by the city Congress organized a rally to the Collector's office, where they burned an effigy of Gyanesh Kumar. The demonstration involved clashes with police during attempts to breach barricades. The party demanded clarity on the process of adding or removing names from voter rolls to ensure electoral integrity.

In Sawai Madhopur, the protest was led by MLA Indira Meena under the direction of State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra. Demonstrators accused the central government and the Election Commission of attempting to manipulate votes through the misuse of constitutional institutions. The rally concluded at the district Collectorate with slogans against the Election Commission.
