Congress questions Ram temple donation theft probe
The Congress party has raised serious questions regarding the investigation into alleged donation thefts at the Ayodhya Ram temple. Highlighting 105 reported incidents of theft, the opposition noted that only eight individuals have been named as accused.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh pointed to a 21-day delay in filing a First Information Report (FIR). He stated that while a video regarding the stolen funds reached former trust general secretary Champat Rai on June 4 and CCTV footage was reviewed on June 5, the FIR was not lodged until June 25.
The opposition also questioned why Rs 79.85 lakh has been recovered and why former trust officials Champat Rai and Anil Mishra are being treated as witnesses rather than accused. The Congress has demanded an independent investigation monitored by the Supreme Court to ensure accountability within the temple administration.
