Congress rejects BJP allegations of regime change conspiracy

The Indian National Congress has rejected allegations from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claiming that opposition protests are part of a coordinated ‘regime change’ conspiracy. The BJP has drawn parallels between the current political climate in India and recent civil unrest in France and Bangladesh, alleging that ‘anti-India gangs’ are attempting to destabilize the government.

Congress leaders, including Shashi Tharoor, have dismissed these comparisons as baseless. The opposition maintains that their agitation is a constitutional movement focused on ensuring free and fair elections, specifically regarding the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the government, stating that the nation’s citizens, including farmers and youth, maintain deep trust in the current leadership, which he claims will act as a barrier against attempts to force a change in regime.
