Congress reshuffles leadership, appoints Sachin Pilot to Punjab

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced a major organizational reshuffle involving several states. Sachin Pilot has been appointed as the General Secretary In-charge of Punjab, replacing Bhupesh Baghel, who has been reassigned to lead Assam. This move in Punjab is seen as an attempt to address internal factionalism and strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

In other key appointments, Randeep Singh Surjewala has been named the General Secretary In-charge of Gujarat while retaining his responsibility for Karnataka. Other changes include Sukhdeo Bhagat for Chhattisgarh, Sirivella Prasad for Maharashtra, and P.V. Mohan for Andhra Pradesh. The party also relieved Jitendra Singh, Ramesh Chennithala, and Manickam Tagore of their organizational duties, while Mukul Wasnik continues as AICC General Secretary.
