Congress workers detained in Alwar ahead of Amit Shah meeting

Tensions rose between the Congress party and police in Alwar, Rajasthan, ahead of a scheduled public meeting by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Police detained approximately 20 to 22 Congress workers, including Khairthal-Tijara District Congress President Balram Yadav, at a hotel in Khairthal.

The Congress party had planned to submit a memorandum to Amit Shah regarding various local issues and conduct a peaceful protest through a Satyagraha program. According to party leaders, police prevented the workers from leaving the hotel and also placed some activists under house arrest to preempt the demonstration.

Balram Yadav criticized the police action, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to avoid facing any form of opposition. Police presence was increased both inside and outside the hotel to maintain security during the Home Minister's visit.
