Congressional Softball Game returns to raise funds for breast cancer charity

The annual Congressional Softball Game is set to take place this week, featuring a matchup between female lawmakers and members of the Washington press corps. The event, which began in 2009, serves as a bipartisan fundraiser for the Young Survival Coalition, an organization that supports breast cancer survivors.

To date, the game has raised approximately $5 million for the charity. The media’s team, known as the ‘Bad News Babes’, holds 10 victories, while Team Congress has recorded five wins. Last year’s contest ended in a 5-3 victory for the lawmakers after thunderstorms shortened the game.

Participants from both sides of the aisle join forces to compete against the press, maintaining a tradition similar to the Congressional Baseball Game.
