Congressman Rosado files complaint against Atesa over waste service failures

During a public hearing convened by the Sixth Commission of the House of Representatives, Congressman Chadán Rosado Taylor announced he has filed a complaint with the Attorney General's Office against the operator Atesa. The legal action follows allegations of contract breaches regarding waste collection services in Santa Marta.

Rosado has requested an evaluation to suspend Atesa’s contract before its scheduled expiration in March 2027. He also called for the involvement of the Inspector General's Office and the Comptroller General's Office to oversee the situation. This move follows a $220 million fine imposed by Essmar and mounting citizen complaints regarding waste accumulation and inefficient collection routes in the city.
