Congresswoman Angie Craig defends record amid criticism from JD Vance and Peggy Flanagan

Congresswoman Angie Craig skipped the Minnesota DFL party endorsing convention and launched a primary campaign against the party‑backed lieutenant governor Peggy Flanagan, arguing she is more electable in the statewide race. Craig said she must "go everywhere" to win DFL support and highlighted the vulnerability of her opponent to Republican attack ads.

She responded to criticism from Vice‑presidential candidate JD Vance over alleged SNAP fraud, noting that the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has a fraud rate of under two percent, the lowest among government programs. Craig called Vance "full of crap" and pledged that any accusations would not stick.

Craig also addressed Flanagan’s complaints about her vote for the Laken Riley Act, which expands detention of undocumented immigrants. She expressed regret for any “inch on immigration” but maintained the law did not directly cause the “Operation Metro Surge” in Twin Cities, adding that the attacks have strengthened her commitment to immigrant neighbors.
