CONMEBOL fines Boca Juniors and coach Arruabarrena $35,000 for match‑delay in Copa Sudamericana

The South American football governing body CONMEBOL imposed economic sanctions on Argentine club Boca Juniors and its head coach Rodolfo Martin Arruabarrena after the team delayed the start of the second half in the Copa Sudamericana second‑leg match against O'Higgins in Rancagua, Chile. Boca Juniors was fined US$20,000 and the coach US$15,000; both amounts will be deducted from the club’s television‑rights revenue. CONMEBOL also issued a formal warning, stating that any repeat offence could trigger harsher disciplinary measures. The penalties do not affect the match result – Boca advanced to the round of 16 after winning the tie on penalties – but they add to a series of recent sanctions against the club in international competitions.
