Conmebol fines Universidad Católica for security violations

Conmebol has issued a formal sanction and fine against Universidad Católica following irregularities during their Copa Libertadores round of 16 match against Estudiantes de La Plata on August 11 in Argentina.

The disciplinary commission imposed a US$5,000 fine for violating security regulations regarding the installation of textiles, such as flags and banners, that obstructed visibility in the stands. The amount will be automatically deducted from the club's television or sponsorship revenue from Conmebol.

In addition to the fine, the club received two warnings for other infractions: one concerning the height of textiles installed on fences separating the stands from the pitch, and another regarding fans climbing structures not intended for that use. The resolution, issued by judge Eduardo Gross Brown, carries a warning that repeat offenses could lead to more severe consequences under the disciplinary code.
