CONMEBOL demands details on FIFA's $4.2bn commercial rights plan
The South American football confederation CONMEBOL said it will review FIFA's proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project and has asked the world governing body for additional information on the structure, governance and possible impacts of the plan.
FIFA intends to create the FFE subsidiary to sell a minority stake in its commercial rights, including World Cup broadcasting and marketing, aiming to raise up to $4.2 billion. UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation have publicly opposed the proposal, with UEFA threatening to boycott FIFA competitions if the plan proceeds. Reports in the New York Post say the investment transaction collapsed after investors withdrew.
