Connact Autumn Workshop held at European Parliament in Brussels

The Connact Autumn Workshop took place at the European Parliament, facilitating dialogue between European decision-makers, Italian companies, and associations. The event focused on enhancing EU competitiveness amidst geopolitical tensions, conflicts, and trade disputes, specifically addressing energy, finance, circular economy, and transport.

During the energy discussion, Philippe Lamberts, a European Commission member and advisor to President von der Leyen for ecological transition, emphasized that accelerating renewable energy deployment and ensuring electrical grid capacity are the most effective short-term measures for energy autonomy.

MEP Paolo Borchia also participated, advocating for all energy sources to compete on equal terms. He noted that recent reliance on gas has become a significant economic challenge for Europe. The workshop also addressed sustainability through the lens of the circular economy, highlighting the potential impact of EU initiatives such as the Circular Economy Act and the Industrial Accelerator Act.
