Connaught Place hosts Raahgiri Day cycling and fitness event
The 93rd edition of the ‘Sundays on Cycle’ (SOC) initiative, held as part of Raahgiri Day, took place at Connaught Place in New Delhi on October 4, 2026. The event transformed the busy commercial district's Inner Circle into a space for cycling, fitness, and community activities.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood flagged off a cycle rally and participated in the festivities. The event featured a variety of activities, including yoga, Zumba, badminton, cricket, folk dance, puppet shows, and live music by the band Euphoria. Asian Games 2026 medalists Naorem Roshibina Devi, Jay Meena, and Suchika Tariyal Hooda also joined the cycling activities.
Organized under the theme ‘Roads are beautiful when they belong to people’, the initiative aimed to promote physical fitness and cleaner mobility. Minister Sood noted that the Delhi government is working to develop dedicated cycling tracks and implementing measures under the Electric Vehicle Policy to address air pollution. Officials used the event to advocate for safer roads and responsible road behavior.
