Connecticut hospitals modernize critical healthcare infrastructure

Healthcare organizations in Connecticut are investing in the modernization of critical infrastructure to ensure operational reliability and resilience. These behind-the-scenes systems, including power generation, heating, cooling, and utility plants, are essential for supporting continuous patient care.

CT Children’s Medical Center has utilized financing from the Connecticut Health and Educational Facilities Authority (CHEFA) to construct a new tower. This facility includes 50 private neonatal intensive care rooms, a fetal care center, dedicated operating rooms, and an advanced gene therapy unit for bone marrow transplants and liquid radiation treatments.

Additionally, Hartford HealthCare has launched an energy modernization initiative through an ‘Energy-as-a-Service’ model. Facilitated by CHEFA, this 30-year partnership with ENFRA Solutions aims to modernize key energy infrastructure across the healthcare network, including the renewal of the co-generation facility at Hartford Hospital.
