Connecticut selects 52 precincts for primary election audit

The Connecticut Secretary of the State’s office has selected 52 voting locations to undergo an audit following the August 11 primary election. These precincts were chosen at random from 1,027 eligible districts, excluding four locations currently subject to discrepancy recounts.

As part of the process, bipartisan local election officials will re-tabulate voter-marked paper ballots and compare those results against the totals reported by tabulators on Election Day. The University of Connecticut will provide audit equipment and conduct an independent analysis of the findings, which will be released to the public. State law requires an audit of machine totals for 5 percent of all voting precincts, including central-count locations for absentee ballots.
