Connections for the Homeless begins $6.7 million renovation of Hilda’s Place
Connections for the Homeless has broken ground on a $6.7 million renovation of Hilda’s Place in Evanston. The project aims to restore year-round overnight shelter services to the facility, which has not provided such services since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The renovation, located at the lower level of Lake Street Church, will include 30 shelter beds, 11 new showers, 10 bathrooms, and an elevator to improve accessibility. Construction is scheduled to begin this week, with the facility expected to reopen in the spring.
