Connie Chan Secures Pelosi Endorsement as Pro‑Israel PAC Funding Draws Scrutiny

San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan received an endorsement from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on May 18, a move Chan said could significantly shift the dynamics of the June congressional primary. The endorsement was highlighted at a rally in North Beach where Chan appeared alongside Pelosi, Sen. Adam Schiff and other local Democrats. Polls released after the endorsement showed Chan at 22% support, trailing frontrunner State Sen. Scott Wiener (38%) and close to fellow candidate Saikat Chakrabarti (21%).

At the same time, a political action committee that has spent nearly half a million dollars on Chan‑favoring ads was traced to groups tied to the pro‑Israel lobby. The PAC, Pro‑Choice Majority Action, is affiliated with the EDW Action Fund, which received more than $750,000 from AIPAC‑linked organizations earlier in the election cycle. Chan’s campaign has repeatedly denied accepting money from AIPAC and reiterated her pledge to support an arms embargo on Israel, but the funding connections have become a focal point of criticism from opponents and online commentators.
