Connie Nielsen to make theater debut at Nørrebro Teater

Hollywood actress Connie Nielsen will make her theater debut at Nørrebro Teater in Denmark. She is set to portray the vengeful Marquise de Merteuil in a modern reinterpretation of the classic work ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’ (Farlige forbindelser).

The production, scheduled to premiere on February 27, 2027, is directed by Jennifer Vedsted Christiansen with a new script written by Marie Bjørn. Nielsen will perform alongside Christian Tafdrup, who returns to the stage after a 14-year hiatus to play the role of Valmont.

The play is described as a radical reimagining of Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel, exploring themes of power, sex, and status within a decadent universe where rococo aesthetics meet late-capitalist symbols.
