Connie Palmen to release new novel ‘Johnnie Walker’

Dutch author Connie Palmen is set to release her new novel, ‘Johnnie Walker’, on September 1, 2026, through Uitgeverij Prometheus. The 264-page book explores themes of addiction, destruction, and the power of language.

In the novel, Palmen draws parallels between the act of writing and alcohol consumption, describing both as forms of addiction and creation that involve elements of destruction. The narrative touches upon the authority of words through themes involving cult leaders, family ties, and the distinction between the ‘we’ and ‘I’ forms of language. The story features a protagonist traveling to a rural area near the Maas river in the late summer of 1977.
