Connor Hellebuyck may return to Winnipeg Jets after trade standoff

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is reportedly contemplating a return to the team following a suspension and a public trade request. Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, has not reported to training camp and is currently suspended without pay. As of this week, he has forfeited over $500,000 in salary.

While a trade remains the preferred long-term resolution for both the player and the organization, the Jets have reportedly struggled to find a suitable partner for a transaction. General Manager Cheveldayoff stated that while no doors are closed to the player, who is under contract for five years, the decision to return rests with Hellebuyck.

The standoff has created tension within the organization. Reports suggest that some members of the Jets organization may be reluctant to see Hellebuyck return to active play after his public questioning of the team's competitiveness.
