Connor Hellebuyck requests trade from Winnipeg Jets

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has requested a trade and is currently suspended by the team after failing to report to training camp. Reports indicate that Hellebuyck will not return to Canada, effectively ruling out a move to teams like the Montreal Canadiens or Edmonton Oilers.

Several teams are linked to the goaltender, including the Carolina Hurricanes and the San Jose Sharks. The Hurricanes have shown interest but may be hesitant to overpay. Speculation regarding potential trade structures includes a three-team deal involving the Hurricanes, the Jets, and a third party such as the St. Louis Blues. Such a scenario could involve defenseman Alexander Nikishin, who is currently a restricted free agent, as a key piece of the transaction to satisfy Winnipeg's demand for value.
