Connor Hellebuyck trade rumors intensify ahead of suspension deadline

Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck remains at the center of NHL trade speculation as his team-imposed suspension for failing to report to training camp is set to expire this Friday. Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, has requested a trade and has already forfeited approximately $800,000 to $900,000 in salary during his disciplinary period.

Reports indicate that the Buffalo Sabres and Utah Mammoth are among the most interested potential landing spots, with the New York Rangers also being linked to the situation. While the Los Angeles Kings reportedly made offers to the Jets, those discussions failed to meet Winnipeg's requirements.

If a trade is not finalized by Friday, the Jets are expected to continue paying Hellebuyck while instructing him to remain away from the team to avoid potential locker room disruptions. The organization faces a complex decision regarding the high-value goaltender, who is under contract through 2031.
