Connor Zary cleared waivers, joins Calgary Wranglers

The Calgary Flames have placed forward Connor Zary on waivers. After going unclaimed by the other 31 NHL teams, Zary will join the Flames’ AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.

Head coach Ryan Huska attributed the decision to a decline in Zary’s performance, specifically noting issues with his pace and a tendency to overhandle the puck. Huska suggested that knee injuries sustained during the 2024-25 campaign may have contributed to the player's recent struggles.

Zary, a former first-round pick, carries a $3.775-million cap hit. While he remains within the Flames organization for now, reports suggest that his contract status could potentially lead to a trade in the future.
