Connor Zilisch signs multi-year deal with Hendrick Motorsports

Hendrick Motorsports has signed 20-year-old driver Connor Zilisch to a multi-year agreement to drive the No. 48 Ally Chevrolet beginning in the 2028 NASCAR Cup Series season. Zilisch, currently a rookie with Trackhouse Racing, will replace Alex Bowman, who announced his retirement from full-time racing following the 2027 season.

Zilisch has been a highly touted prospect, having previously secured the regular season championship in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series in 2025. While his current Cup Series rookie campaign has faced challenges, including several DNFs, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick expressed high confidence in Zilisch’s talent and character.

The move also secures the continued involvement of Ally Financial, which has served as the primary sponsor for the No. 48 car since 2019. Zilisch will remain with Trackhouse Racing through the end of the 2027 season before making the transition to Hendrick Motorsports.
