Conor Benn to face Ryan Garcia for WBC welterweight title

British boxer Conor Benn is set to face Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas on September 12 for the WBC welterweight title. Benn aims to capture the championship belt previously held by his father, Nigel Benn, who defended it eleven times between 1992 and 1995.

Benn has expressed confidence in his ability to secure a knockout victory, stating that he is unbothered by Garcia’s verbal provocations. Despite the high stakes, Benn noted that he prefers the role of the underdog.

However, analysts have raised concerns regarding Benn’s ability to make the 147-pound welterweight limit. Having competed at higher weights, such as 150 and 160 pounds, in recent years, experts suggest that the physical toll of cutting weight could leave him drained and diminish his punching power during the fight.
