Conor McGregor sought for questioning in perjury probe

The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (NBCI) is seeking to interview UFC fighter Conor McGregor regarding an investigation into alleged perjury. The inquiry follows the seizure of a mobile phone from an associate of McGregor and concerns claims that false statements were made in affidavits during his unsuccessful civil appeal.

The appeal related to a 2024 civil jury finding that McGregor had sexually assaulted Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. While McGregor has maintained his innocence, the current investigation focuses on whether false statements were submitted during the legal proceedings of that appeal.

McGregor’s solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, stated that the fighter is currently in California receiving medical care and has offered to assist detectives either remotely or in person once he is medically cleared to travel to Ireland. The NBCI has reportedly attempted to arrange contact with McGregor since September 2025.
