Conor McGregor urges Dustin Poirier to take accountability after Atlanta airport arrest

Conor McGregor commented on Dustin Poirier's June 21 arrest at Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where the former UFC lightweight was charged with misdemeanor public intoxication after a confrontation with airline staff and police. Body‑cam video showed Poirier arguing before complying with authorities.

McGregor told the Smash Cast interview that “karma is a mirror” and warned Poirier to treat the incident seriously, saying he must “take accountability” for his actions and not let the situation worsen. Poirier has said his behavior was influenced by emotional struggles related to retirement, depression, and concerns about his father’s alcoholism and homelessness, and he is now in therapy.

Despite the controversy, Poirier remains under UFC contract and indicated he would consider returning to the octagon for a rematch with McGregor or other legacy fights, such as against Nate Diaz or Justin Gaethje.
