Conseg Leopoldina honors officials, pushes stronger noise‑pollution rules in Brazil

On Monday, the Conseg Leopoldina community safety council held a meeting at Yano Buffet, presenting a Challenge Coin to local police, community leaders, business owners and media representatives in recognition of their contributions to public safety.

The council gave a special tribute to councilwoman Zoe Martinez (PL) for authoring a draft law aimed at curbing noise pollution. The proposal calls for stricter controls on sound‑generating equipment, a curfew from 22:00 to 07:00 in public spaces, and penalties ranging from warnings to equipment seizure and fines. It also seeks to protect sensitive sites such as hospitals, nurseries and asylums.

Council president Roberto Bortoni said, “The noise issue is one of the most relevant in our community, with many resident complaints reaching Conseg.” Martinez explained that the bill’s goal is to establish clear guidelines for preventing, controlling and enforcing noise‑pollution standards.
