Conseil du Commerce de France demands action after October 17 looting
The Conseil du Commerce de France is calling for urgent government action following widespread looting on October 17. Representing various distribution sectors, including local shops and e-commerce, the organization expressed exhaustion and frustration among merchants regarding the lack of protection and inadequate support for repairing damaged workspaces.
To address these issues, the Council is demanding the implementation of mandatory minimum sentences for repeat offenders to ensure a rapid and deterrent response to property damage. Additionally, they are calling for the immediate activation of the interministerial security cell dedicated to commerce to combat theft, aggression, and daily incivilities.
