Conselheiro Lafaiete ranked among top 20 gastronomic cities in Minas Gerais

Conselheiro Lafaiete has ranked 18th in the “Gastronomic City” category of the 2026 Cumbucca Gastronomy Prize, placing it among the top 20 culinary destinations in Minas Gerais. The city earned 49.55 out of 55 possible points, finishing 3.85 points behind Belo Horizonte.

The award recognizes municipalities that implement public policies and initiatives to use gastronomy as a tool for socioeconomic development, tourism, and the creative economy. The selection process involved technical analysis by the Cumbucca Prize Council and voting by a specialized jury of journalists, opinion leaders, and the public, in partnership with organizations such as Sebrae and the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism.

Local efforts, including the annual Sabores das Villas Gastronomic Festival, have been credited with strengthening the local productive chain and establishing the city as a culinary reference in the Alto Paraopeba and Vale do Piranga regions.
