Consell de Mallorca and Muro begin study on residence management transfer

The Consell de Mallorca, through the Institut Mallorquí d’Afers Socials (IMAS), and the Muro City Council have begun working to study the potential transfer of the management of the Reina Sofía municipal residence to IMAS.

A bilateral commission was established to evaluate the transition, focusing on the impact on residents, staff, and the continuity of care. The Reina Sofía residence currently provides 49 places. This initiative is part of the Consell de Mallorca’s support for municipal residences, which includes a 5 million euro fund for 2026 to address deficits in several centers and support the sustainability of 256 public residential places.
