Conservation International hosts workshop on Pará restoration

During the São Paulo Climate Week 2026, Conservation International Brasil, supported by the Bezos Earth Fund, hosted a workshop titled “Unlocking restoration in Pará: partnerships, value chains and investment.” The event brought together government officials, private sector representatives, investors, and civil society experts to discuss strategies for achieving the state of Pará's goal of restoring 7.2 million hectares by 2030.

Discussions focused on presenting data regarding deforestation and productive chains to identify opportunities for large-scale restoration. Participants explored ways to transform environmental targets into concrete opportunities for sustainable development, income generation, and biodiversity conservation.

Ludmila Pugliese, Director of Landscape and Forest Restoration at CI-Brasil, emphasized that large-scale restoration requires a structured value chain. This includes strengthening nurseries and seed collector networks, providing technical assistance, expanding financing mechanisms, and professionalizing the sector to connect territorial opportunities with corporate climate commitments.
