Conservatorio Mascagni faces economic difficulties in Livorno

The Conservatorio Pietro Mascagni in Livorno is facing significant economic challenges due to a decrease in local funding. This financial strain impacts the institution's ability to cover current administrative expenses, maintain high training standards, and expand its educational offerings, including new courses and lessons.

In response, officials from the Municipality of Livorno, including Mayor Luca Salvetti, met with the Conservatory's leadership, represented by President Emanuele Rossi and Director Federico Rovini. The meeting aimed to clarify the positions of both institutions and address concerns raised by students and faculty. The Municipality expressed a willingness to continue supporting the conservatory through various methods and highlighted previous collaborations.

Both parties have agreed to begin a process to establish a multi-year agreement. This proposed deal seeks to provide adequate economic support while finding ways to better integrate the conservatory into the city's artistic and cultural activities and address the specific needs of its students.
