Consolidated Bank Ghana launches loan program for entrepreneurs with disabilities

Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has launched a dedicated loan initiative designed to support entrepreneurs with disabilities. Unveiled during the bank’s disability conference at the Du Bois Centre in Cantonments, the program aims to move beyond simple bank account ownership toward meaningful economic participation and sustainable enterprise development.

Rather than providing grants, the initiative offers loans with concessional terms and specific exemptions from certain requirements that typically exclude informal businesses from formal credit. The program is implemented in partnership with the Korklu Foundation and combines access to capital with financial literacy training and business management support.

CBG leadership emphasized that the goal is to recognize persons with disabilities as economic actors rather than charity recipients. The bank intends to maintain responsible lending standards, including borrower assessments and transparency, while helping participants build credit histories within the formal financial system.
