Consorci de les Gavarres begins fire recovery and expands management

The Consorci de les Gavarres has initiated emergency recovery efforts following a major forest fire that burned 2,183 hectares starting July 3 in La Bisbal d'Empordà. Current operations focus on removing burnt trees across 12 hectares near the GI-660 road and the Rabioses path to prevent falling debris and soil erosion, particularly on slopes exceeding 35%.

In related administrative developments, the Consortium has approved a 2027 budget of approximately 1 million euros, representing a 33% increase. This growth is largely due to the inclusion of the Massís de les Cadiretes protected natural area under its management.

Additionally, the plenary approved an extraordinary credit of 200,000 euros for the acquisition of the Sant Cebrià dels Alls hermitage and its rectory. The organization also confirmed the recent purchase of the 67.7-hectare Tossal d'en Bóta forest estate in Llagostera, which was fully subsidized by the Generalitat de Catalunya.
