Consorcio Constructor Río Ozama awarded Dominican Republic bridge contract
The Consorcio Constructor Río Ozama (CCRO) has been awarded the contract to design, build, and operate a new bascule bridge over the Ozama River in the Dominican Republic. The consortium, composed of Antillean Construction Corporation, SRL; Tradeco Infraestructura, S.A. de C.V.; and Pontix Ingeniería y Construcción, S. de R.L. de C.V., was the sole bidder for the project.
The final contract value is RD$4,571,074,834.28, following an arithmetic correction during the evaluation process. The project aims to replace the existing floating bridge and will involve complex engineering, including steel tubular piles driven up to 64 meters deep to support the structure against water movement and vehicle traffic.
The construction will feature both fixed and mobile sections. The fixed superstructure will utilize hydraulic concrete, reinforced steel, and prestressed steel, while the mobile section will be operated via mechanical and electromechanical systems designed to allow river navigation.
