Consorcio Panamericana de Cannabis advances medicinal project in Panama
The Consorcio Panamericana de Cannabis has presented infrastructure progress and operational projections to Panama’s Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) regarding a medicinal cannabis project in Panamá Pacífico. The initiative aims to establish indoor cultivation, beginning with a controlled agronomic nursery followed by the manufacturing of cannabis-derived medicines.
To initiate operations, the consortium is seeking formal authorization to import seeds and requires phytosanitary certificates. MIDA officials, including Vice Minister José Aníbal Rincón, discussed accelerating institutional procedures, including licensing and technical site inspections.
A multi-institutional supervision table will be established to monitor biosecurity protocols and traceability. Additionally, MIDA plans to provide specialized training for its technical staff and activate the Medicinal Cannabis Agronomic Advisory Council to support the development of this new industry.
