Italy promotes regional agrifood and wedding tourism

Italy's agrifood and tourism sectors are highlighting various regional specialties and economic challenges. In the tourism sector, wedding tourism is seeing significant growth, with the BMII event in Rome scheduled for November to connect international buyers with Italian hospitality and experiential tourism providers.

Culinary traditions are also being promoted through several regional events. Modena will host ‘Acetaie Aperte’ on September 27, showcasing traditional balsamic vinegar, while the Lomellina region is organizing rice-focused tours. Additionally, the Consorzio di tutela della mozzarella di bufala campana Dop is concluding its ‘Seminari Dop’ series with a book presentation in Caserta.

However, the agricultural sector faces structural hurdles. The rice industry is struggling with climate change and competition from Southeast Asian imports, prompting calls for better water management and technological investment. In Sardinia, stakeholders have signed the ‘Patto di Nuraminis’ to revitalize the durum wheat and bread carasau supply chain, aiming to reverse a significant decline in cultivated surfaces.
