Goiânia legislative updates on waste tax and worker benefits

In Goiânia, the City Council has approved a bill that would grant Comurg sanitation workers a 50% discount on tickets for cultural, sporting, and entertainment events. The proposal, authored by Councilman Luan Alves, now awaits sanction from Mayor Sandro Mabel.

Simultaneously, the legal dispute regarding the Public Cleaning Tax (TLP) continues. The Court of Justice of Goiás (TJGO) has suspended a previous ruling that had declared certain parts of the tax law unconstitutional. This suspension maintains current collection rules, including exemptions for over 200,000 families and discounts of up to 75%, until the court's Special Body reviews the municipality's appeals. Council members are currently discussing new legislation to ensure these exemptions are legally guaranteed for approximately 240,000 families starting in 2027.

Additionally, the Limpa Gyn Consortium offers a free service in Goiânia called 'Cata-Treco,' allowing residents to request the removal of bulky items like furniture and appliances for recycling.
