Consórcio Portos do Sul to operate Porto Alegre port terminal
The Consórcio Portos do Sul, the winner of a recent auction, met with Porto Alegre Mayor Sebastião Melo to discuss the operation of the Cais Navegantes port terminal. The consortium holds the operating rights for the next ten years.
The project involves a planned investment of R$ 100 million without the use of public funds. The terminal features a 400-meter quay and a total area of approximately 22,000 square meters. The initiative is expected to create between 300 and 450 direct jobs during its operation period.
According to Fábio Mota, CEO of Terminal Porto Alegre SA, the project aims to revitalize an abandoned area and improve competitiveness for the local industry by addressing the current demand for cargo that must travel long distances via highways to reach the Metropolitan Region and the Serra Gaúcha.
