Constanța archaeological site transferred to MINAC administration

A 4th-century hypogeum tomb discovered in the center of Constanța, Romania, is being transferred to the administration of the National History and Archaeology Museum of Constanța (MINAC). The site, located on Sabinelor Street, was identified during mandatory preventive archaeological research intended for a real estate development project.

The discovery features a remarkable cruciform shape. Following the identification of the funerary complex, the Constanța County Council exercised its right of preemption to acquire the property to ensure the protection and valuation of the remains. The land, which previously housed two old residential buildings, will now be managed as a public heritage site rather than being used for the originally planned residential and office construction.
