Constanța becomes a strategic hub for NATO and the Romanian economy

Constanța has emerged as a vital strategic hub for both the Romanian economy and NATO's eastern flank. The Port of Constanța, the largest in the Black Sea and a major European gateway, has seen its importance surge following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.

The port has become a primary transit point for the Ukrainian grain corridor, redirecting millions of tons of agricultural exports toward the Middle East, Africa, and Western Europe. This shift has prompted significant investments from the Romanian state and the European Union to modernize port infrastructure, railways, and access roads to increase transport capacity and reduce operational times.
