Constanța hosts Roman mosaic-inspired fashion exhibition

The Museum of National History and Archaeology Constanța, in partnership with the Constanța Children's Palace, is hosting a new temporary exhibition titled ‘Mozaic Design ’26. Historical Landmark in Fashion Art’. The exhibition, which opens on August 13, 2026, at the Roman Mosaic Building, features ten experimental ‘costume-objects’ designed by Teodora Hatman.

Hatman, a student at the Fashion Design Workshop of the Constanța Children's Palace, created the pieces under the coordination of Professor Anca Pașa Deaconu. The designs reinterpret the symbols, decorative motifs, compositional details, and chromatic elements of ancient Roman mosaics through the lens of contemporary fashion design. The project aims to bridge archaeology and contemporary art by demonstrating how cultural heritage can serve as a foundation for new artistic expression.

The exhibition will be open to the public from August 13 through September 30, 2026.
