Constanța manages major infrastructure investments and green urban projects
The city of Constanța is managing significant infrastructure developments involving both large-scale municipal investments and green urban projects. The local administration reported a balance of investments, including those funded by the European Union and the PNRR, exceeding 1.2 billion lei (approximately 239 million euros).
A major focus is the new Electro-Thermal Power Plant, estimated at 754-756 million lei. However, questions have been raised regarding the allocation of municipal loans, specifically a proposal to transfer 6.554 million lei to the power plant project from funds originally designated for the Municipal Hospital and the Marriage Registry.
In terms of urban development, the GREENCITIES project has finalized conceptual plans for a new sustainable park at the intersection of Ștefăniță Vodă and Tulcea streets. This cross-border cooperation initiative, involving partners from Romania, Georgia, Greece, and Turkey, aims to mitigate the urban heat island effect through drought-resistant vegetation, automated irrigation, and energy-efficient lighting.
